Chat with Neptune intends to establish a link between the general public and Marine Science, undressing the formal language of scientific texts.
Cássia G. Goçalo
I received my
bachelor’s in Biology from the Methodist University of São Paulo. My
scientific career started at the Oceanographic Institute of the
University of São Paulo participating in various research projects. I
was enchanted by microscopic life from the first time I observed marine
animals collected through a plankton net. It was there I discovered the
fascinating life of the fish in the early life history, the egg and
larval stage. I did my Masters about the distribution of bioluminescent
larvae that have light-emitting cells along their body, which inhabit
deep regions of the oceans. Recently, for my Doctoral degree, I have
investigated the swimming and feeding behavior of marine fish larvae,
recording their high-speed movements in laboratory experiments.
